My longstanding interest in how the brain regulates emotions and behavior initially led me to earn an MS in neuroscience from UT Dallas. I came to realize that my passion was in working with people directly to improve their quality of life. This prompted me to become a licensed professional counselor after pursuing an MA in counseling psychology from Antioch University New England. I have gained a wealth of understanding in my decade of experience providing therapy mostly to adults dealing with a range of mental health and substance use disorders. I eventually decided to further my education with an MSN in nursing leadership from UT Austin and a certificate in psychiatric mental health nursing from Cox College to expand on the services I am able to provide to my clients.

My strong clinical background serves as a vital asset in my role as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and enables me to be flexible in meeting clients’ needs. My therapy style is cognitive behavioral fused with a psychodynamic approach as I help clients to discover how they think, feel, and behave are interconnected and shaped by past influences that impact present-day experiences and relationships. My goal in working with clients is to go beyond the oversimplistic method of mere symptom relief by also exploring symptoms as indicators of unresolved conflict that have the potential to inspire personal
growth and lasting change.
